How to Write Great Job Adverts

First impressions are important in any part of life, and this is especially true when it comes to hiring. In order to attract talented people to your business it is important for your job advertisements to be clear and to the point. Here at MunaHR we have broken the process of crafting a great job advert down to help you get the most out of your words.

Make sure your advertisement covers these basics:

  • Company background
  • Position title
  • Position description/responsibilities
  • Position expectations (qualifications etc)
  • Benefits and opportunities
  • Information about the application process (contact info etc)

An effective advertisement is clear and addresses all the areas of interest a candidate might have.

Accurate position title

To ensure you get appropriate applicants make sure you have an accurate position title which reflects your needs.

Describe your business

This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate to a potential candidate what sort of culture and environment your business has and how this environment is a desirable one to be a part of.

Define responsibilities

In order to get the best and most relevant applicants be sure to outline the expectations and the responsibilities of the job clearly and concisely.

Salary and benefits

Remuneration is not the only benefit potential employees are looking for. In your ad you should showcase ways you will enable the positive growth of your employees; professional development, career advancement, PIP etc

Just follow our process to create the ideal job ad and you will cover all the bases

Example:

Bartender

Location

Do you love being a positive presence?

Do you value work-life balance?

Then we have a great opportunity for you!

Company description.

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone with a warm personality and a great team spirit
  • Someone with organisational skills and a can-do attitude (it can be really busy here!)
  • Someone with great communication skills

What we offer:

  • Career Advancement
  • Professional development
  • Coaching/Training
  • Business skills
  • Remuneration
  • Explain how your employees are valued and encouraged

The most important thing to remember is that your job advertisement is your first and best opportunity to catch the attention of talented staff. And the best way to catch their attention is with clear, honest and people-centred language to show how much you value your employees.
