We’re looking for an experienced catering chefs to jump on board with our growing business, The Food Lab based in Miramar, to help us deliver amazing food. 

The Food Lab are a corporate catering company, a sister business of the iconic Charley Noble Eatery and Bar. We are taking on bigger and brighter events of all shapes and sizes from 20 person private plated dinners, to 1000 people canape functions at a range of Wellington’s esteemed venues. 

As a premium caterer, we value quality food and quality people, as creating a special experience is at our core, and we believe you should be proud of everything you spend your time doing. The Food Lab also has the preferred catering agreement with Wellington Venues, which exposes us to a vast range of events. Last year we catered seated mains to 890 guests in 21 minutes, we threw a party to 500 guests across two floors at the St James Theatre, we served a three-course meal to 120 people on a theatre stage, we hosted conferences and graduations and fed famous bands back stage.

Our core team consists of 7 kitchen staff, including our Executive Chef. We are proud of our gorgeous kitchen in Miramar and have made great relationships with other suppliers and venues in Wellington over the last 4 years of operation. 

We’re looking for a Head Chef and Senior Chef to join our team as we grow.  

• Experience in catering is crucial, as it is a dynamic environment and very different to restaurant service
• Creativity – catering is often about using your initiative and creativity to design bespoke menus that are delicious, cost effective, and able to be executed on larger scales. Attention to the details and feeding people fantastic food is one of our core values. 
• Leadership – there is a lot of delegation required to pull together a menu with so many moving parts, clear communication and some imagination is what makes us versatile, especially with how unique every event is!
   

Attitude – we embrace catering enquiries with a HECK YES, and do what we can to make things work for our clients. Willingness and enthusiasm towards the YES is important to us. 
A regular week operates on office hours, however flexibility to deliver events outside of these hours is a must. These hours get balanced over the week, and there is always lots of lead time into them. 
We ask for a permanent, full-time commitment.
Wage is negotiated based on experience in the industry.
